Why Worship On Wednesday? Reason #12: I’m a Grandparent

Praying handsAbout twice a month Good Shepherd has something we call Worship on Wednesday (WOW), and we’re pretty excited about that way it’s bringing families of all shapes and sizes together.

The flow is simple: have a small meal, gather for a story, caring conversations, prayer, rituals, communion, and we serve one another by cleaning up. This follows our commitment to teach families the Four Keys to Practicing Faith in the home: Rituals and Traditions, Caring Conversations, Family Devotions, and Service.

And, we do all of this in about thirty minutes, from 5:30-6:00pm.  But feel free to come at 5:15 if you want to get a jump on dinner.  We know how kids can get hungry, fast!

After it’s over, we encourage the gathered children to participate in one of our choirs who practice directly afterward while the parents get some free time to socialize, get some extra work done, run a quick errand, or spend some time in intentional prayer.

But why might you come?

Here’s reason #12:

Perhaps you’re a grandparent, and your children aren’t finding the time to involve your grandchildren in a church community.

Or maybe they’ve decided that they just aren’t interested in church, but are happy for the child to come with you…just not on a Sunday morning.

Or maybe your children work on a Sunday morning, and so they can’t get the grandkids to worship or Sunday School.

If any of those statements feel like you, then WOW may be part of the answer!

At our Worship on Wednesday gatherings, we welcome kids from all over the Triangle to worship freely in whatever way they’re able.  No church experience necessary!

Worship on Wednesday gatherings for the rest of 2019 are:

February 13th & 27th

For March we encourage families to come to our Lenten Dinners every Wednesday.

April 24th

May 8th & 22nd.

We’ll also be having WOW once a month in the June and August.  Stay tuned for those dates!

See you Wednesdays from 5:15-6:00pm. All are welcome. Mean it.
